Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! I’ve decided to take this opportunity to share the greatest love of all with my kiddos. God’s love for his children. With that in mind, I created a handful of Valentine’s Day Bible activities intended to steer my little one’s hearts and minds in the right direction. These “God is Love” Bible activities are meant to start conversation, build Biblical vocabulary, celebrate what true love is, and encourage fun while learning.
While Valentine’s Day is definitely one of my favorite holidays (candy+red=YAY!), it can also be a little frustrating to see others focusing on worldly love. I want my kids to understand their true worth is not based on cards and flowers, but on the perfect love only God can give them. The cards and flowers are fun, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for celebrating. But it’s the same concept as Christmas and Easter. Why water down something that could be so amazing, and turn it into another Hallmark movie? There really is nothing that can out-do God’s love for us.
What’s included in my “God Is Love” Bible activities:
There are nine pages total in this pack, starting with the “Love is…” word search based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Search through the page to find the attributes of love. This is going to be a great way to introduce a few new vocabulary words. Squeaks is fascinated with spelling lately and has started trying to sound out and write as many words as she can. Word searches have become a favorite because they reinforce her letter sounds, blending, and recognition.
I wanted to make this a well rounded learning experience for Squeaks, so that means including a little math.
Also in my “God Is Love” Bible activity pack is an add and color worksheet. Complete each addition problem to find what color to use on each section of the picture. The picture itself is based on John 3:16.
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Also included is a simple dice game, “Be Filled With Love”. Roll a the dice, add up the total and fill your jar with love!

This jar printable can also be used to encourage showing love to others. Catch your kiddo doing something kind? Put a sticker “in” the jar. At a set number of stickers they can earn a treat!
Or print two and have fun with both options!
Squeaks is also currently learning how to count by twos (we use Masterbooks for math curriculum and I love the way they introduce this lesson). To reinforce this new concept I created a counting by twos pattern puzzle. Put the numbers in the correct order and it reveals a colorful visual representation of John 3:16. This was the very first activity Squeaks was drawn to, and she wanted to do it over and over.
If you’re going to do a Valentine’s Day Bible lesson, you need to open your Bible!
A little “Love your neighbor as yourself” Bible study is going to help us learn how and why we should love others. Included are some conversation starting questions along with supporting verses to look up. I know my little ones listen a bit better when their hands are busy, so while you read these verses, it may be a good time to have them coloring the “God Is Love” coloring page, also included in the pack. And when you’re finished with the lesson, enjoy a few rounds of tic-tac-toe with a neighbor to practice taking turns, following rules, and being gracious to others.
Last but not least, I’ve included some Bible verse tracing pages. Nothing helps the truth sink in like writing it down. And it’s an added benefit to Squeaks penmanship skills. I always have her try to sound the words out as she’s writing them too. Then say the verse multiple times as she’s writing to help it stick.
I’m excited to continue these fun activities as we get closer to Valentine’s Day, and I hope you’ll join us!
