Introducing my Place Value Robot’s twin brother, Double Digit Robot!
This cute guy has been a huge help to us as we move forward in our math curriculum this year. After facing our place value hurdle, we’ve moved on up to double digit addition and subtraction! My little math junky is thrilled to see these larger numbers.
Adding this fun robot to our practice arsenal has been a huge help in connecting the dots between place value and basic math functions.
Let’s take a look at my Double Digit Robot!
I just love his little number wheels! They are interchangeable with number families on each wheel from the ones all the way up to the nineties. Simply add a brad pin in the middle to attach them to the robot, turn the wheel to any number of your choice, and move on over to your robots screens. He has screens for each place value, including a little “carrying cog” for those remainders. The separate screens help with visualizing each numbers value and adding or subtracting them to get your answer for the bottom screen. Simply laminate and use a dry erase marker to fill them in. (Visit my Amazon shop to see my favorite laminating and homeschool tools.)
Not only is he great practice to use in conjunction with our math curriculum, but he’s also super helpful for independent practice. Squeaks loves turning his number wheels to come up with her own math problems. This is great when I need to help her younger brothers with something during our school time, or maybe just make myself a quick cup of coffee before we move on. ๐
Adding and subtracting double digits has really clicked for Squeaks with the help of this fun little robot!
