One of the questions I get asked most frequently is “How do you structure your day?” I understand being curious about what goes on during other people’s homeschool day. I’ve watched many day-in-the-life videos trying to glean wisdom and inspiration. There’s something reassuring about knowing we’re all learning and no two homeschools look the same- it’s still just so fun to watch!
As much as I love watching day-in-the-life videos, I never really understood how much work went into them! The video below took me the longest to film, edit, and do a voiceover for than any other video I’ve ever done. So much work, but it was actually really fun!
I tried to be as thorough as I could, but I also wanted it to be super honest. Throughout the day, I’d just pick up the camera and move it around, trying not to make it the center of attention. I explained to the kids that I wanted to make a video to encourage other homeschoolers. They were all on board and pretty much ignored the camera. No special schedule was rolled out; I wore my usual amount of makeup (nearly none), and we didn’t get dressed up. In fact, I wore shorts I said I’d never wear in public when I bought them, and here I am, wearing them on the internet. Lol!
I’ve always said thinking about homeschooling is harder than actually doing it, and I think this video is a good example of that. It’s as simple as being home together, being intentional with your time, and putting God at the center of it all (or at least trying to).
I hope you enjoy our day-in-the-life!
