Okay this might be my favorite printable yet. It’s a grocery store scavenger hunt game! Tell me that doesn’t sound like a ton of fun for a kid. Squeaks loves it!
One of the many perks to homeschooling is the ability to do school anywhere and anytime. Learning about the world while out in the world. We do our grocery shopping once a week and the kids always come with us. It’s a whole family activity for us. Since it’s something that we are doing on a regular basis anyway, why not make it fun?
This scavenger hunt is a basic review of things we’re learning at home. Identifying written numbers, colors, basic shapes, and letter sounds (most of these things we cover during our calendar time). It’s colorful and easy to follow, plus Squeaks felt super important carrying her clip board and pen around crossing things off her list.

There are four sections to the game.
Numbers 1-10 can be found on price tags, produce scales, and nutritional information on packaging. This opens up lots of opportunity for counting practice, conversations about money, ingredients, and how different items have different weights and measurements.
Colors are everywhere! Signs, fruits and veggies, boxes, cans, etc. Squeaks had fun recognizing different shades of colors. The lid of the pasta sauce jar was a much darker green than the green grapes.
The shapes section may be the most challenging. Connecting a one dimensional rectangle to a three dimensional rectangular box of cereal can be a leap for a toddler. Recognizing shapes out in the world is tough for little minds but once they get it they want to find shapes everywhere!
The last section is a fun shopping list where you can write out your kiddos favorite snacks. Talk to them about the letters in the snack names and the sounds they make. Once they have the food at the store, match the letters to the label on the food. Sound out the letters and then have them cross it off the list.
Squeaks had a blast with this game and was so proud off herself for finding everything on her list. I’m sure we’ll be printing this one out ourselves again very soon.
