And just like that the school year is coming to an end.*sigh* My how time flies when you’re raising tiny humans. Since this is Squeaks’ very first end of the school year I wanted to end with some fun new traditions. We had so much fun with our beginning of the year traditions, it would be nice to book end the year! Not that the middle wasn’t fun too, I’m just a sucker for momentous milestones. It’s really a milestone for both of us since it’s the end of my first year teaching too! Go me!
I Pinterest-ed the heck out of end-of-school-year traditions, and I’ve adapted a few and added a few that will be specific to us (and you, if you like my suggestions). There are so many great ideas out there! I know “graduating” from preschool is not really a thing, but it is Squeaks very first end of the school year so why not celebrate?! She learned and grew so much this year. I’m so impressed with her desire to learn and I think that’s also worth celebrating.
Check out our fun countdown to summer and interview page!
Squeaks loved our joke-a-day paper chain when we were counting down to the first day of school, so we’re using a similar set up. We’ll take a ring off of the chain every day for the last week of school.
Each chain link has a fun activity for the day:
Day5- Make popsicles! We love these popsicle molds. In the past, I’ve always made our favorite smoothie and just frozen that. I may get a little more creative for this special occasion though. This looks like a yummy list of possibilities.
Day 4- Water play. This may be running through the sprinklers, playing in our water table, or something indoors like water beads. It may depend on the weather (and mama’s mood 😉 ).
Day 3- Our “Great Year” end of the school year interview page. (We’ll have to revisit this page after we take our last day pics!) I’m excited to hear some of Squeaks answers to the questions. These little interviews will be fun to look back on over the years.
Day 2- Make a summer bucket list. This one looks so fun!
Last day of school!- Take our last day photos (add one to our “Great Year” page) and have a little party! We may even invite a few of our homeschool friends to join us for a special lunch!

To round out our end of the year celebrations I’m also adding a few fun new books to our rotation.
Curious You On Your Way – “This inspirational story reminds readers young and old who are moving up or moving on that they have a special someone cheering for them as far as their curiosity can take them!” Squeaks is the definition of curious and we are thrilled to cheer her on! And Curious George is always a win.
Oh, The Places You’ll Go – “Seuss’s message is simple but never sappy: life may be a ‘Great Balancing Act,’ but through it all ‘There’s fun to be done.’” A classic! We’ve had this one for awhile, but it’s such a fun book to apply to the end of the school year. If there was ever a way to describe homeschool it would be “a balancing act”, but TONS of fun!
The Oak Inside The Acorn – “The Oak Inside the Acorn is the story of the miracle inside each of us. For within every child is the special person God created, just waiting to grow.” The perfect book to encourage Squeaks to focus on how God has grown her this year!
The Wonderful Things You Will Be – “From brave and bold to creative and clever, Emily Winfield Martin’s rhythmic rhyme expresses all the loving things that parents think of when they look at their children.” A wonderful and lovely reminder for Squeaks of the potential we see in her!

How do I print off the end of year interview? I have gone to the Free Printables Library and entered my password and it just keeps linking me back to this page.

Hi there!
If you log into the printables library, scroll down to number 17 and you’ll see a link to the paper chain and a separate link to the interview just above the picture. Hope that helps!
