Day three of our Five Days of Christmas Crafts!
I’m going to be perfectly honest with you. I’m running out of Christmas-y craft supplies and I’m a little afraid to go out into the general public to shop this time of year. But have no fear, that’s what Amazon is for right?
Today we made a canvas snowflake magnet. It’s like a mini canvas masterpiece for your fridge! I gave Little Dude a mini canvas to paint on too, but just like with our wreath yesterday, his attention span couldn’t hang. Two year olds, whada-ya-gonna-do? He had fun for about five minutes and then ran off to pull ornaments off the tree. Squeaks enjoyed it though, and I think it turned out pretty cute!
Here’s what you’ll need:
mini square canvas (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby)
magnets (I like the ones with adhesive backings)
First I cut the painters tape into thinner strips and made a basic snowflake pattern on the canvas. Then I just handed it over to Squeaks to do her magic. She was very diligent in hunting down every speck of blank canvas and wasn’t satisfied until it (and the surrounding counter top) was covered in paint. This resulted in a little paint working its way under the tape but I think it just adds to the character of the snowflake. After it dried I pealed up the tape and used my white paint pen to add a cute little phrase repeating around the edge of the canvas. “My love for you will never melt.” Sweet, no?! Stick on some magnets and wallah, fridge masterpiece!
This was a super simple craft. I almost felt like I should have done two today. Looking forward to tomorrows craft!
